Do wildflower fields increase diversity of insects

We’re in our wildflower/grass fields today setting insect traps to monitor the diversity and abundance of flower-visiting insects 🐝.

We are doing our own study (with the help of a local scientist 🧑‍🔬 !) to see whether this approach is increasing the number and type of insects on the farm, and the impact this will have on our natural environment, soil, livestock, and crops ✅.

We have planted the wildflower/grass mix as part of the Countryside Stewardship Mid Tier scheme.
